Business Email on Your Own Domain: What It Actually Takes

A mismatched @gmail.com address costs trust. Here's the actual three-step plumbing job behind you@yourbusiness.com and what it costs to get right.

If your invoice says yourbusiness.com but your reply-to address says yourbusiness@gmail.com, that mismatch is doing quiet damage. A customer comparing you to someone else notices which one looks like an established business and which one looks like a side hustle — and a free-tier email address is the tell. The fix is smaller than most owners expect: it's a plumbing job, not a rebuild.

What "plumbing" actually means here

Getting mail flowing correctly from you@yourbusiness.com is three mechanical steps, in order:

  1. DNS records that prove you're allowed to send. Your domain's DNS needs specific records (the kind mail servers check automatically) that say "this mail provider is authorized to send mail as this domain." Without them, messages you send are more likely to land in spam or get rejected outright.
  2. A mailbox provider connected to your domain. This is the actual inbox — Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or whatever mailbox subscription you already have or choose. The domain and the mailbox are two separate things that have to be pointed at each other correctly.
  3. A real send/receive test. Not a guess that it's probably working — an actual message sent and received before anyone calls it done.

None of this touches your website's design, your existing inbox contents, or anything else you already have running. It's a narrow, defined task with a clear finish line.

What it doesn't include

Business email setup does not include buying you a mailbox subscription. You keep whatever mailbox provider and plan you choose or already have — FAMtastic doesn't resell mailboxes, mark them up, or lock you into a specific provider. The work is the connection and verification, not the inbox itself. And if any step needs a login only you have — your domain registrar, your mailbox admin console — that gets flagged plainly rather than guessed around.

What it costs to get right

FAMtastic's Business Email Setup is a one-time $99: the DNS records, the mailbox connection, the send/receive test, and handoff, done once and correctly. If you're setting up a new domain and site at the same time, the $199 Web Basics package covers the site, hosting, and domain in one pass — see the full package breakdown for what's actually included before you add email on top. Every add-on and its price is listed on the packages page, scoped the same way: plainly, with no bundled surprises.

If you're not sure whether your setup needs this or something else, contact us and describe what you have today — we'll tell you the actual next step, not just sell you the add-on.
